Chapter 1. Advertiser — for beginners

The advertiser is the product side. They say which action they pay for: a lead, a purchase, an install or something else. The webmaster and the buyer bring that action. The advertiser does not promise them income above the rate and does not accept an action they did not describe. This chapter is about writing the terms so they can be read without guesswork.

The rate is what you pay for one confirmed action. The cap is how many such actions you are ready to accept. The hold is how long an action may wait for a check. All three numbers are written before the first click. You cannot change the rate backwards after the clicks. New terms start on new traffic, and you say so in advance.

In the materials for webmasters you list what the product does and what must not be promised about it. Income, a cure, a guarantee and comparisons you do not have go on that forbidden list explicitly. A creative that breaks the list does not “almost fit”. It is not allowed into traffic.

The source list is written in words: search, a feed, a mailing, a channel, an app. A source outside the list is not allowed by default. The webmaster should not have to guess. If a source does not fit your quality, it is absent from the list from the start, not after a week of traffic.

The report has three layers: clicks, claimed actions and confirmed ones. You pay for the confirmed ones. Clicks with no actions are a reason to look at the page and the promise, not a reason to raise the rate. Claimed but not confirmed actions stay on hold until the check. A dispute is read by the mark and the time, not by a message that says “I feel”.

You stop the offer if the cost of a confirmed action is higher than what the product brings you, or if the traffic is not from the list. You say it is stopped before the webmaster brings another day. You do not promise to pay new clicks after the stop. Starting again means new terms written down again, not a quiet continuation of the old ones.
